CONTRACT
The terms and conditions of the Guest English Teachers contracts are guided by Korean Labor Law as outlined by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. Therefore, despite some minor variations, the contract for all GETs' working across Korea at various MOEs and POEs is virtually same.

EPIK contract may change every six months after in-depth review. Jeollabukdo POE will notify renewing teachers of any changes to the contract.

We have a year contract ONLY.
About 3 to 4 months prior to the end of the contract, Your main school will receive an official document asking for your intent to renew. If you have decided to leave, you must submit a "Renewal waiver" and follow the procedures with Jeollabukdo Office of Edu.
Whether you want to renew or not, you must complete the lesson evaluation.
After the submission, Jeollabukdo Office of Education will carefully review all documents received from your school.
If your score is under or near 80, JEPIK committee will contact the school and EPIK separately to check and see if the score is fair.
If there's any comment/very poor work performance recorded to any of documents, JEPIK will look into the matter seriously before we make the final list.
TRANSFERS
There is a possibility that you could be transferred to another school after renewal.
If you wish to change schools at the beginning of your next contract, please request your inquiry to the local education office.
If you wish to transfer to another city within Jeollabukdo, Please request on the last section of the renewal form and specify us 3 cities you like.
After we close for the renewal application, JEPIK will contact you to submit 2-3 recommendation letters from schools or anyone you worked with in Jeollabukdo.
JEPIK committee will consider your work performance, reference letters and the renewal scores and the needs of city's or school's for EPIK program.
We will inform the result before the signing day.
However, Please ensure that Jeollabukdo Office of Education cannot accommodate of all transfer requests due to limited positions available (either schools or cities).

IF YOU ARE NOT RENEWING
Make sure you have all paper work you need before leaving Korea.

LEAVING KOREA BEFORE CONTRACT ENDS
Provided your schools are not in session and you will have completed your camp duties, it is possible to leave Korea before the end of the contract by using allotted paid vacation days. As with any time you use paid leave, You must ask for approval from your school first and apply for your leave in advance.
All pays will be finalized after the contract ends.
